started as a love of bird hunting became a passion for dog training.
My wife and two children are my best training partners and without
them this would be a dream and not a reality. When
in college at Chico State I discovered the wonderful world of duck
hunting. After getting married and re-acquiring my pet Golden
Retriever a few years later, She was 21 years old at her death and was a valuable member of our family. We miss her, but realize we had so much more than anyone could hope for. I learned a lot from her and thought I would try my hand at training a puppy. My buddy then presented me with a quality 6-week-old Labrador puppy (name Tule) that I was able to train and acquire a Master Hunter title and qualify her for several Master Nationals. Now I was hooked and dog training became an addiction. Tule gave me two great litters of pups. I kept one from each litter and am now running those dogs successfully in Field Trials. Nala, a yellow female from the first litter, has 9 derby points, two qualifying wins and needs an Open win to finish Field Championship. We

I decided it was time I quit getting my feet wet. My dog was
10 years old at the time, but hey, old dogs could learn new tricks,
right? Anyway, I did the best I could with her and she actually
did retrieve most of my ducks for me. Although Mandy is gone
now, I will always appreciate the contribution she made to this
road I’ve taken.
